In line with the directives of the Civil Defence Council and reflecting the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to safeguarding national security and ensuring the safety of citizens and residents, the Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, chaired a meeting of the National Committee for Civil Emergency Management.
The meeting was attended by officials and representatives from various directorates within the Interior Ministry and relevant entities. It comes amid rapid regional developments, aiming to raise national preparedness and strengthen mechanisms for coordination and institutional integration among relevant authorities.
During the meeting, the Chief highlighted the importance of activating the National Civil Emergency Plan in all its operational and logistical components to ensure the highest levels of efficiency and preparedness. National arrangements for responding to potential regional developments were reviewed, with emphasis on field readiness across all sectors, enhanced coordination between security and service bodies, and the regular updating of plans and scenarios based on precise risk assessments to ensure effective emergency response.
He also emphasised the importance of diplomatic, regional, and international coordination within the Consular Affairs Cell as part of a comprehensive national response.
The Chief further affirmed the importance of fully activating the National Civil Emergency Management Centre and ensuring a round-the-clock presence of representatives from all relevant authorities, with flexible and effective response levels that support timely decision-making.
Key topics discussed during the meeting included reviewing and updating emergency plans based on possible scenarios, assessing security and humanitarian situations, enhancing coordination among operations centres at various ministries, unifying efforts under the National Emergency Plan, ensuring medical and shelter preparedness through reviewing hospital and medical staff readiness, pharmaceutical and medical supplies, and monitoring strategic reserves of food, water, and fuel in connection with the decision-making system. The meeting also emphasised the importance of community awareness and police media, including intensified official messaging through the National Civil Protection Platform.
