The Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing received Political Adviser and former Member of the UK Parliament, Rehman Chishti, at the Open Prisons facility.
During the meeting, the Director-General welcomed the delegation and highlighted Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to develop the Open Prisons Programme in line with the highest international standards.
He also outlined key practices related to the implementation of alternative sentencing and its positive impact on the criminal justice system. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in this field.
The UK official toured the Open Prisons facility and was briefed on the various programmes and services that reflect the Kingdom’s efforts in advancing the alternative sentencing system.
