On the sidelines of the International Economic Forum held in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, the President of Customs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the Deputy Director General of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, Tatyana Merkusheva, signed a Mutual Customs Administrative Cooperation Agreement between the governments of both countries.
The President of Customs affirmed that the agreement represents a strategic step toward enhancing and modernising customs systems, in line with the Customs Affairs Strategic Plan 2024–2027, and within the framework of international efforts to strengthen customs partnerships.
The agreement aims to solidify cooperation between the customs authorities of the two countries through the exchange of information and expertise related to goods and relevant parties. This will contribute to boosting bilateral trade, facilitating the movement of goods, simplifying customs procedures, and enhancing border security and anti-smuggling efforts, particularly in light of growing global supply chain challenges.
This step reflects Bahrain’s efforts to strengthen international relations and support the business and investment environment through customs partnerships based on knowledge exchange and performance efficiency enhancement.
