The Executive Council of the International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO) has re-elected the Director-General of Civil Defence, Brigadier-General Pilot Ali Mohammed Al Kubaisi, as Vice-President of the Council for a second consecutive term. The election took place during his participation in the 58th session of the Executive Council and the extraordinary session of the General Assembly of the Organisation, held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
On this occasion, the Director-General expressed his deep pride in this international assignment, which reflects the confidence of member states in Bahrain’s performance. He praised the significant support extended to the Civil Defence by His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and the continued follow-up by the Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan. He affirmed that this support plays a pivotal role in enhancing the national civil protection system and raising its efficiency to meet the highest international standards.
The Executive Council meetings discussed a range of programmes and activities related to the organisation’s work, including progress reports and follow-up on previous decisions, as well as the election of the new Secretary-General of the ICDO.
On the sidelines of the meetings, the Director-General held a series of bilateral talks with the Ministers of Emergencies of Russia and Azerbaijan. The meetings reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise in the development of civil defence systems and emergency preparedness.
