The Anti-Cyber Crimes Directorate at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security has arrested a 36-year-old woman of GCC nationality for misusing social media during her visit to Bahrain by publishing content that contravenes public morals.
The directorate clarified that, as part of its ongoing monitoring of content published on social media platforms, a violative post shared by the individual on one of the platforms was detected. The directorate immediately intensified its investigation efforts, which led to the identification and arrest of the offender after obtaining the necessary warrant from the Public Prosecution. Legal proceedings have been taken, and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
The Cybercrime Directorate affirmed that all required legal measures have been taken and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution. It further urged the public to adhere to national laws and regulations, exercise social and ethical responsibility in the use of social media, and refrain from publishing or circulating any content that violates the law, public customs, or Bahrain’s traditional values.
