As part of its efforts to safeguard maritime security and the marine environment, Coast Guard patrols arrested four Asians in possession of 90 kilograms of shrimp illegally caught during the banned season, in violation of a ministerial decree prohibiting shrimp fishing during this time of year.
The shrimp were caught using banned bottom trawling nets (known locally as "Koffa") in the Fasht Al-Azm area, east of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Coast Guard stated that the necessary legal procedures have been taken in preparation for referring the case to the Public Prosecution. It reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to combating such violations in order to protect marine resources and uphold the laws and regulations in force in the Kingdom.
