The Anti-Drug Directorate of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, in cooperation with Customs Affairs, has arrested several individuals in separate incidents for attempting to smuggle and possess over 7 kilogrammes of narcotic substances, with an estimated street value of approximately BHD121,000.
The Directorate explained that upon receiving information related to the incidents, investigations were immediately launched, including intelligence gathering and evidence collection. These efforts led to the identification and arrest of the suspects, who were found in possession of the narcotics. The seized substances were confiscated, and all necessary legal procedures were taken, with the cases referred to the Public Prosecution.
The Criminal Media Division stressed the importance of strengthening community partnerships in raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. It highlighted the ongoing delivery of awareness lectures and educational exhibitions, urging the public to report any suspected drug-related activity by contacting the hotline 996, the main operations room 999, or via email at 996@interior.gov.bh, all while ensuring complete confidentiality of the information provided.
