As part of ongoing efforts to protect the marine environment and maintain maritime security, the Coast Guard patrols have seized, in different incidents, 92 illegal fishing nets (known locally as garageer), in addition to (11) illegal fishing traps and (3) bottom trawling nets (kufa) in various areas across the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Coast Guard stated that legal procedures have been taken. It affirmed its continued monitoring operations to combat such violations to safeguard marine resources.
