Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, received Head of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Mission in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Aishath Ihma Shareef, along with her accompanying delegation. The meeting was held in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Exists, Search and Follow-Up, Brigadier Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Dossairi.
During the meeting, the NPRA Undersecretary praised the vital role played by the IOM in supporting global efforts related to migration and border management. Discussions focused on various areas of mutual interest and explored ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two sides. Key topics included emerging challenges and developments in passport services, legal identity, and integrated border management, in addition to reviewing mechanisms for experience-sharing to enhance systems and procedures in line with international standards and best practices.
Both sides affirmed the importance of implementing UN-led migration programmes and initiatives to support the Interior Ministry’s efforts to enhance security, streamline individual mobility procedures, and improve the technical and administrative infrastructure in this sector.
