In a joint security operation, the Air Customs Directorate at the Customs Affairs, in cooperation with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, foiled an attempt to smuggle and possess over 11 kilograms of narcotic substances with an estimated street value exceeding BHD76,000. Several Asians were arrested in connection with the case.
The operation began when customs officers at the air entry points detected over 5 kilograms of narcotics in the possession of an arriving traveller. The case was immediately referred to the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, which launched a thorough investigation. As a result, five additional suspects were arrested within the Kingdom, found in possession of more than 6 kilograms of narcotic substances.
The Directorate confirmed that all necessary legal procedures were taken, and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Media Division at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science reaffirmed its commitment to promoting community partnership by conducting awareness lectures and exhibitions focused on drug prevention.
