The Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security has arrested a 41-year-old individual for exploiting and luring several children to obtain video recordings, using his account on social media platforms.
The unit explained that upon receiving a case from one of the children's parents, it immediately launched an investigation, collecting information and evidence, which led to the identification of the suspect. He was arrested after all necessary legal procedures were completed, in preparation for referring the case to the Public Prosecution.
The unit stressed the importance of parents continuously monitoring their children and raising their awareness about the risks associated with using social media and various other digital applications. Parents are urged to ensure the safety of the apps their children use and to teach them how to respond appropriately when facing threats or dangers.
The unit also urged parents to contact them immediately if they suspect any activity that may pose a risk to their children’s safety, either by calling the unit’s direct number at 33523300 or by emailing cpcu@interior.gov.bh.
