Civil Defence Launches "Prevention and Safety in Swimming Pools" Awareness Campaign

MOI

As part of its continuous efforts to enhance awareness of safety and prevention standards for swimming pool users and owners, the General Directorate of Civil Defence has launched the awareness campaign "Prevention and Safety in Swimming Pools" in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Electricity and Water Authority, and Coast Guard Command. The campaign is being implemented across all governorates of the Kingdom.
The campaign aims to raise awareness among swimming pool users and owners about the importance of adhering to preventive safety requirements to minimise the risk of accidents. It highlights the need to ensure the availability of safety devices and equipment, avoid leaving children unattended in pools to prevent drowning incidents, check the integrity of facilities and cleanliness of water, ensure the presence of first aid kits, verify the safety of electrical connections, and obtain the necessary operational permits.
The campaign team has conducted field visits and direct interactions with swimming pool users and operators to provide guidance and awareness advice. Booklets, posters, and giveaways promoting safety culture have been distributed, with a focus on the importance of having firefighting and alarm equipment available, such as fire extinguishers, fire blankets, smoke and gas detectors, and keeping gas cylinders outside the pool facilities.
