In conjunction with Bahrain’s observance of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, and in line with the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing efforts to combat this crime, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science has established a dedicated office under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Public Morals Protection Directorate. The new office is fully equipped by international standards to receive victims in a safe and supportive environment. It includes a designated space for children in cases where the victim is accompanied by a child, ensuring their comfort, psychological protection, and the necessary support to help them overcome the trauma associated with such crimes.
The office aims to promote cooperation of potential victims and witnesses with the justice system, encouraging them to work with authorities from the investigation phase through to judicial proceedings, enabling them to provide testimony, identify perpetrators, and assist in their arrest.
This office represents a significant step in strengthening the national anti-trafficking framework, reflecting Bahrain’s legal and ethical commitment to human rights protection and justice for all. It also complies with Law No. (1) of 2008 on Combating Trafficking in Persons and the Palermo Protocol, to which Bahrain acceded under Law No. (4) of 2004.
The Criminal Media Division at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science affirmed the continuation of community partnership initiatives, including lectures and awareness exhibitions on combating human trafficking. It urged the public to report any information related to trafficking activities through the 24/7 hotline (555), the Main Operations Room (999), or by email at 555@interior.gov.bh, assuring complete confidentiality of all information provided.
