As part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow and enhance safety on key roads in the Kingdom, the General Directorate of Traffic has announced that, effective September 1, King Hamad Highway will be added to the list of roads where heavy vehicles (weighing over 3 tonnes) are prohibited during peak traffic hours, from 6:30 to 8:00 am and 2 to 3 pm.
The restriction excludes emergency vehicles and pre-authorised public service vehicles.
The General Directorate of Traffic has called on all companies, institutions, and drivers to adhere to the peak hour restrictions and comply with traffic regulations. It stressed that cooperation among road users plays a vital role in ensuring public safety and smooth traffic flow. The Directorate also confirmed that field inspection campaigns will be intensified in conjunction with the enforcement of this decision to ensure full compliance, wishing all road users safety and security.
