Director-General of Traffic: Students’ safety is a shared responsibility

MOI

The Director-General of the General Directorate of Traffic, Major-General Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, affirmed that the safety of students is among the top priorities of the General Directorate of Traffic. He stressed the importance of parents’ cooperation with traffic police to ensure joint efforts result in providing a safe traffic environment for students, urging parents to comply with traffic rules and regulations and to prioritise the safety of their children during school transport, particularly around schools and educational areas.
On the occasion of the upcoming school year, he noted that the directorate has put in place the necessary traffic measures to safeguard students and ease traffic flow during peak hours. This includes coordination with relevant entities to manage traffic movement and organising awareness programmes and guidance sessions on enhancing traffic safety in school zones.
The Director-General underscored that the directorate would not tolerate violations that could endanger students’ safety, stressing that the ultimate goal is to guarantee a safe back-to-school. He wished students a successful and achievement-filled academic year.
