The Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, received a delegation of staff members from the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives as part of their visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
He welcomed the delegation, affirming that the Alternative Sentencing and Open Prisons Project is one of the pioneering initiatives stemming from the Reform Project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the guidance of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. He noted that these factors have contributed to the project’s success and the achievement of its objectives.
The meeting reviewed the key goals and achievements of the project, including awareness and training programmes and rehabilitation plans aimed at reforming beneficiaries and reintegrating them into society in a positive manner.
The delegation also toured the facilities of the Open Prisons Complex, which included educational buildings equipped with the latest technologies, residential units offering various living services, and a sports club, where they observed the ongoing efforts to rehabilitate beneficiaries to the highest standards.
