The Interior Ministry announced that the General Directorate of Traffic has organised training and refreshing courses targeting Community Police personnel and school guards in both public and private sectors. The initiative is part of a comprehensive plan, developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, to create a safe traffic environment around schools.
The courses focused on several key areas, including securing school surroundings, developing communication skills with students and parents, and training participants on mechanisms to regulate traffic flow in front of school gates. They also addressed ways to reduce traffic violations committed by some non-compliant drivers when dropping off their children.
The training programmes further highlighted the importance of effective coordination and role distribution to ensure the safe crossing of students and the proper organisation of vehicle parking without obstructing traffic. They stressed adherence to designated pick-up and drop-off areas, particularly for school buses, and directed drivers to use the parking spaces allocated for them.
The Directorate has urged all parents and drivers to cooperate with Community Police and school guards, and to comply with their instructions and guidance, to safeguard student safety and ensure a smooth traffic flow in educational and vital areas, thereby preventing accidents.
