Civil Defence launches back-to-school awareness campaign to promote safety culture

MOI

The Interior Ministry announced that, as part of efforts to strengthen community partnership and promote values of public safety, the General Directorate of Civil Defence has launched an awareness campaign to mark the back-to-school season. The initiative aims to raise preventive awareness among students and parents through a series of educational programmes and activities held in shopping malls, schools and educational centres.

The campaign seeks to familiarise students with methods of risk prevention and proper responses in emergencies such as fires and natural disasters, while embedding safety as part of children’s daily behaviour, both inside and outside educational institutions.

As part of the campaign, a mini awareness exhibition was organised, featuring displays of safety equipment, distribution of brochures and leaflets, and interactive online competitions through “Ghaith”, the Civil Defence mascot. The activities drew strong engagement, especially from children who enjoyed the educational and entertaining environment, with souvenirs distributed to mark the start of the new school year.

The campaign also reflects ongoing cooperation between the General Directorate of Civil Defence and the Ministry of Education. This includes coordination with the Community Partnership Directorate to deliver specialised awareness lectures in schools across all levels, in addition to participation in events and exhibitions that highlight the Civil Defence role in safeguarding lives and property as part of Bahrain’s public safety framework.
