In a pioneering initiative reflecting the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to providing comprehensive care for inmates at the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre and fostering family bonds between them and their children, the General Directorate of reformation and Rehabilitation implemented the “School Bag for Inmates’ Children” initiative in cooperation with Public Security Markets. The initiative included distributing school bags and supplies at the start of the new academic year.
On this occasion, Colonel Adnan Juma Bahar, Director- General of Reformation and Rehabilitation, emphasised that the initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on inmates’ families and involve inmates in supporting their children. This effort strengthens their family role and responsibility toward their families, reinforces the right to education for all without discrimination, and promotes the principles of human rights and social justice.
The Director- General also highlighted the Directorate’s commitment to continuing its care for inmates and their families and addressing their needs.
The event witnessed participation from several children of male and female inmates in a warm, family-oriented atmosphere. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the initiative, noting its contribution to easing financial burdens and affirming that it reflects a deeply humane approach that embodies the values of compassion and solidarity.
