Royal Academy of Police Commander Major General Fawaz Hasan Al Hasan headed the Ministry of Interior’s delegation, represented by the Financial Intelligence National Centre and a number of relevant directorates, to the 17th meeting of the permanent committee of the strategic security planning in the GCC countries, and the workshop on developing the GCC strategy to combat money laundering, held in Kuwait.
During the meeting and the workshop, participants reviewed international agreements and ministerial declarations directed towards combating money laundering crimes at both international and regional levels. They also discussed a number of topics regarding the importance of preparing a regional GCC strategy to combat money laundering, strengthening cooperation between partners to implement the strategy, developing security policies, financial investigations and joint operations, making use of technology and security analysis, as well as training and capacity building to ensure effective implementation.
