The Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, received Professor David Wyrick, head of the delegation from the University of North Carolina and the International Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) organisation, in the presence of the Director of the Crime Prevention, and head of the Maan (Together) programme against violence and addiction, Ali Ameeni.
The Chief welcomed the delegation, expressing appreciation for the support and directives of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa towards enhancing police services to protect society and ensure security and stability. He highlighted in particular the importance of further developing the Maan programme and improving its outcomes by drawing on international experiences and strengthening cooperation in applied research.
The meeting reviewed several scientific experiences in combating violence and addiction, and discussed ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation, including the potential to benefit from the results of academic studies and research in the development of educational curricula.
The Chief concluded by stressing the Interior Ministry’s commitment to reinforcing cooperation with international research and academic institutions. He underlined the importance of partnerships between security authorities and research centres to advance policing, thereby consolidating Bahrain’s status as a regional hub for research and training.
