The President of Customs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, visited the headquarters of the Financial Protection Authority in Italy, where he met with Lt-General Vito Giordano, Head of the Second Directorate for Information Coordination and International Relations.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between both sides in combating tax evasion, cybersecurity, and customs-related economic and cybercrimes. The Customs President was also briefed on Italy’s advanced practices in these vital fields.
Separately, the Customs President met with Ambassador Francesco Talò, Special Envoy for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) Agreement Project. He highlighted Bahrain’s competitive advantages as an integrated regional logistics hub, emphasising the country’s interest in strengthening cooperation with international partners by providing innovative, technology-driven logistics solutions. He noted that this would enable Italian and European companies to benefit from the smart services and solutions offered by Bahrain’s logistics sector.
