The Customs President, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation and expertise exchange in the customs field to further develop customs and logistics affairs, and to consolidate the Kingdom’s status as a leading regional hub for trade and logistics services.
He praised the support provided by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for customs operations, which enhances their pivotal role in the national economy through effective customs programmes and plans, under the follow-up of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
This took place on the occasion of the signing of the joint declaration between Bahrain Customs Affairs and the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency, as part of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s official visit to Italy.
The Customs President explained that the agreement aims to develop customs risk management systems, enhance the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence, and advance Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programmes. It also aims to enhance trade exchange, support the logistics sector, and strengthen oversight to safeguard supply chains against illicit activities.
