MOI delegation pays an official visit to Qatar

MOI

A delegation from the Ministry of Interior, headed by Assistant Chief of Public Security for Operations and Training Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Harm, took part in the official visit to the National Counter-Terrorism Committee in Qatar. The visit was carried out in implementation of the decision of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Ministers of Interior of the GCC States during their 41st meeting regarding field visits, within the framework of strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise in counter-terrorism, from 1–2 October.

During the visit, Qatar’s experience in enhancing its national counter-terrorism framework was reviewed, along with the role of the Targeting Centre in proactive monitoring of cross-border crimes using artificial intelligence. The meetings also discussed ways to boost cooperation, coordination, exchange of expertise, and benefit from participants’ experiences.

The delegations also visited the United Nations Office of Counter- Terrorism (UNOCT) to strengthen regional cooperation in combating terrorism, its financing, and preventing the proliferation of armaments, in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. A number of training and capacity-building programmes were reviewed during the visit.
