The Ministry of Interior affirmed that, as part of efforts to strengthen national capacities in the field of combating human trafficking, the Anti-Human Trafficking and Protection of Public Morals Directorate at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science organised the fifth training course for frontline workers engaged in the fight against trafficking in persons. The course was held in cooperation with the Public Prosecution and the Protection and Grievances Centre of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).
The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science explained that 14 trainees from the Ministry of Interior and the National Guard participated in the course. It covered several key topics, including: Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to promote human rights; an introduction to the crime of trafficking in persons and its elements; the concept of a trafficking victim and ways to identify them; procedures to ensure their protection; the legal guarantees provided to victims under Bahraini law; as well as the Public Prosecution’s efforts in combating trafficking in persons and the role of the LMRA in this area.
The Directorate further emphasised the continued activation of community partnership with all institutions and groups through lectures, exhibitions, and awareness programmes aimed at educating the public about combating trafficking in persons.
