The Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Tennis at the Interior Ministry, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, praised the outstanding results achieved by the Interior Ministry Tennis Team in recent regional tournaments, reflecting the spirit of competitiveness and excellence among the Interior Ministry’s personnel.
He highlighted that player Badr Abdulal delivered an impressive performance during his participation in the 5th Arab Veterans Tennis Championship held in Jordan from 13 to 17 October, with over 150 players from 13 Arab countries, securing second place in the singles competition. This achievement adds to the ministry team’s record of success on the Arab stage.
He also noted the participation of the Ministry’s women’s tennis team, comprising Major Reem Al Hashimi, Major Fatima Al Zuabi, and Captain Mai Al Khal, where Major Reem Al Hashimi advanced to the semi-finals in the singles category, a milestone reflecting the progress and growing presence of Bahraini women athletes in regional competitions.
He further stated that players Ahmed Mohammed Al Sayed and Talal Mohammed Al Sayed achieved remarkable results in the Asian Tennis Federation Championship held in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Ahmed claimed first place in the singles competition, while Talal secured second, and together they won first place in doubles, showcasing the high level of readiness and technical skill of the ministry’s athletes.
He affirmed that these multiple achievements embody the great support extended by His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa toward sports and ministry personnel, which has positively reflected on their performance and strengthened Bahrain’s presence in regional and international tournaments.
He concluded that these results are the outcome of the ongoing efforts of the Permanent Committee for Tennis to prepare and qualify the ministry’s players to compete internationally, in line with the Interior Ministry’s vision of excellence across all fields.
The team’s participation in both tournaments comes as part of the ministry’s commitment to promoting sports activities and enhancing Bahrain’s representation in Arab and international sporting events, reflecting the Kingdom’s bright image and the distinguished performance of its athletes.
