The Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, praised the historic and distinguished relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, particularly in policing. He noted the continuous development of these ties, reflecting both countries' commitment to enhancing cooperation based on shared interests.
This came during his meeting with the Commissioner of the City of London Police, Pete O’Doherty, held as part of the second Bahrain–UK Strategic Dialogue.
He affirmed that the multiple security achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain are the result of the support and instructions of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, who places great emphasis on advancing the security system. This includes supporting cooperation with friendly countries, exchanging security expertise, and leveraging advanced experience in addressing security challenges.
The Chief of Public Security commended the distinguished efforts of the City of London Police in maintaining security and ensuring public safety, highlighting their high readiness, advanced technical capabilities, and specialised training, which make them a leading model in policing.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination across several security areas, including mechanisms to combat organised and transnational crime, economic crime, and cybersecurity risks. It also reviewed avenues for developing security capabilities and enhancing skills through specialised training programmes and the exchange of expertise and experiences, in a manner that supports efficiency and readiness in security work.
