The General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security organised the forum titled “National Partnership for Enhancing Integrity and Combating Corruption”, in conjunction with International Anti-Corruption Day, observed annually on Dec. 9. The forum witnessed broad participation from government and private sector entities.
On this occasion, the Director General of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, Colonel Ahmed Saad Al Rumaihi, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, has established a firm approach in building an integrated national anti-corruption system based on transparency, accountability and the protection of national achievements.
He noted that the close follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, plays a central role in enhancing the efficiency of this system through supportive measures that reinforce integrity values and strengthen confidence in state institutions.
He explained that the Ministry of Interior, led by His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, continues to implement the directives of the wise leadership by supporting national initiatives that promote integrity and sound governance, reflecting Bahrain’s firm commitment to combating corruption and safeguarding the path of sustainable development.
He added that organising the forum falls within the framework of developing awareness-raising methods by shifting from general campaigns to specialised dialogue platforms targeting administrative leaders, decision-makers, and officials responsible for legal, financial, and compliance affairs in both government and private entities, as well as representatives of the banking sector. He stressed the importance of strengthening joint cooperation and activating strategic partnerships in support of corruption prevention efforts and institutional transparency.
He noted that this forum is part of a national strategy to entrench a culture of integrity, enhance institutional integration, and raise awareness of the importance of protecting public funds, grounded in the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to international agreements, foremost among them the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
The forum featured several speakers from the General Directorate and national oversight bodies, including Tamkeen and the National Audit Office, who presented working papers on financial and administrative oversight, combating financial crimes, and best practices in integrity. More than 150 participants representing 55 ministries, authorities, companies and banks took part in the forum, underscoring the importance of institutional and community partnership in promoting integrity values and combating corruption.
