Coinciding with the celebration of Human Rights Day, Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues its efforts to enhance national initiatives that support human rights and reinforce the values of social justice, stemming from the deeply rooted humanitarian approach established by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and affirming the Royal directives that place the preservation of human dignity as a core pillar of the national reform and sustainable development project.
In this context, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, provides strong and ongoing support to strengthen policies centred on empowering individuals and protecting their rights, as well as developing programmes that contribute to achieving social justice. This approach is also supported by the care and attention of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, who is keen to back humanitarian initiatives aimed at strengthening national cohesion and enhancing societal stability—particularly through the (Fael Khair) Programme, which supports those with unpaid loans.
In the context of developing the initiative and maximising its humanitarian impact according to best practices, the Director-General explained that the General Directorate is working on future plans for full digital transformation to enhance responsiveness and improve service efficiency. Among these plans is the development of an application for the “Fael Khair” initiative, which will receive applications from individuals with unpaid loans, while also enabling supporters and contributors to offer support directly, safely, and transparently. He added that the coming phase will include expanding efforts to address the situations of those with unpaid loans by providing suitable employment opportunities in coordination with relevant entities, helping them meet their needs and achieve family stability. As part of a preventive and proactive approach, he also noted that there is a plan to develop early-intervention mechanisms, through exploring settlement options and reorganising financial situations in partnership with the banking sector—thus preventing individuals from reaching a state of complete default and improving the chances of long-term financial recovery.
The Director-General affirmed that the “Fael Khair” initiative has become an advanced model of humanitarian work, achieving exceptional results that exceeded expectations. The number of beneficiaries reached 817 individuals, while 1,631 financial cases were settled with a total value of 3,620,774 Bahraini dinars. The initiative also succeeded in establishing effective partnerships with various institutions and companies, along with contributions from donors who covered more than 200 financial cases and donated over 600,000 Bahraini dinars to support eligible individuals.
He expressed deep gratitude and appreciation to all donors and contributors whose generosity made these honourable results possible, emphasising that the spirit of solidarity they demonstrated reflects the essence of the humanitarian and societal values that distinguish the Kingdom of Bahrain. He also praised the notable efforts of content creators on social media platforms, whose engagement and highlighting of the programme played a pivotal role in raising awareness and broadening its reach.
In conclusion, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa affirmed that Bahrain’s commitment to protecting human rights and supporting those in need is continuous—not limited to a specific day or occasion, but rather a deeply rooted approach that reflects the values of generosity and humanity embodied by the people of the nation. He added that the positive impact achieved by the “Fael Khair” initiative reinforces the belief that humanitarian work is the foundation of building a cohesive society grounded in justice and solidarity.
