In a new national achievement reflecting Bahrain’s continued progress in enhancing quality of life and public health, the Southern Governorate received the World Health Organisation’s accreditation as a Healthy Governorate, in the presence of His Excellency, Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
Health Minister Dr Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan affirmed that the accreditation reflects the wise vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the continuous follow-up of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, noting that the support of HE the Interior Minister played a key role in completing the Healthy Governorates system across Bahrain.
His Highness, Southern Governor Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, stated that the achievement was achieved within a short period, thanks to the leadership’s support and HE the Interior Minister’s direct follow-up. He stressed that the accreditation is the result of joint cooperation among government entities, institutions and the community, coinciding with Bahrain’s National Day celebrations.
WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Dr Hanan Balkhy praised the Southern Governorate’s inclusion as the final governorate to complete Bahrain’s national Healthy Governorates programme, noting that Bahrain achieved full accreditation at a record pace across the Eastern Mediterranean region.
