The Chairman of the Interior Ministry Standing Committee, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, affirmed that the Ministry of Interior ATP Challenger Tennis Championship, in its fourth edition, winning the award for Best Organised ATP 125 Tournament in the World, represents a landmark achievement, as it is the first of its kind for the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The Chairman praised His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's royal support for sports and athletes in Bahrain, which has contributed to outstanding achievements in Bahraini sports. He also highlighted the prominent role of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, noting his ongoing oversight and unwavering support for the sports sector have been a fundamental pillar in achieving this global achievement.
He further expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, for his ongoing support in strengthening national competencies and fostering an environment conducive to creativity and excellence.
He also extended his deep appreciation to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, commending his efforts in serving Bahraini sport and his commitment to raising its standards to reach global levels.
He congratulated His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa on the success of the championship. The Bahraini Ministry of Interior Tennis Championship has become a focal point of international interest, attracting the attention of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and professional players worldwide, owing to its professional organisation, high-quality hosting standards, and its role as an attractive platform for international stars. It also serves as a sports hub, demonstrating Bahrain’s ability to host major global events.
Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa concluded by extending his heartfelt congratulations to the Director of the Sports Federation, the Director of the Officers’ Club of the Chief of Public Security, the Tournament Director, as well as all staff members, volunteers and sponsoring partners of the Ministry of Interior Tennis Championship, affirming the Standing Committee for Tennis’s continued commitment to enhancing game development programmes to achieve further sporting accomplishments for the Kingdom of Bahrain.
