The General Directorate of Civil Defence has launched an awareness campaign in conjunction with the camping season, as part of its commitment to community partnership and its ongoing efforts to enhance public safety. The campaign emphasises the importance of adhering to prevention and safety requirements and educating the public on proper ways to deal with emergency incidents.
The campaign highlights the need for camp owners to comply with preventive guidelines, foremost among them ensuring the safety of electrical connections, keeping electrical generators away from tents, avoiding lighting fires or smoking inside tents, and refraining from using gasoline (petrol) to ignite charcoal or firewood, due to the serious risks such practices pose to lives and property.
The campaign also includes raising awareness among campers about the importance of providing a portable fire extinguisher and a first aid kit within camps, as well as designating a suitable and safe cooking area away from tents. These measures contribute to reducing the likelihood of accidents and ensuring a rapid response when necessary.
The General Directorate of Civil Defence affirmed that this campaign comes as part of its continuous efforts to enhance community awareness of public safety and prevention requirements, wishing everyone a safe and successful camping season.
