Southern Governorate Celebrates WHO Accreditation as a “Healthy Governorate”

His Highness Southern Governor Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa attended the Southern Governorate’s celebration of its accreditation by the World Health Organisation as a “Healthy Southern Governorate,” a distinguished national achievement under the Healthy Cities Programme – Eastern Mediterranean Region. 
HH the Southern Governor affirmed that this accreditation aligns with the wise vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He noted that the achievement embodies the leadership’s vision to enhance residents’ quality of life through investment in health infrastructure and sustainable development, which has earned the Southern Governorate this prestigious designation.
He further stated that the Southern Governorate’s attainment of this milestone reflects the keen interest of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa in advancing the quality of services provided to citizens, as well as his close follow-up on developments related to the accreditation. He commended the efforts of all government, private, and civil entities, as well as members of the Healthy Cities Committee, for their contributions to this success, which supports public health development, encourages community participation, and promotes healthier lifestyles.
The ceremony also featured a short film highlighting key efforts undertaken by the governorate’s team, the World Health Organisation delegation, and the Healthy Cities Committee. The film showcased official meetings and field visits to service, educational, and health facilities across the Southern Governorate to monitor compliance with WHO standards and requirements for healthy cities.
At the conclusion of the event, attendees celebrated the Southern Governorate’s achievement and excellence, and its continued cooperation with various entities, reaffirming the commitment to sustaining health initiatives that serve citizens, residents, and the broader community within a sustainable, healthy governorate.
