The General Directorate of Civil Defence called on citizens and residents to strictly adhere to safety and preventive measures during the rainy season to protect lives and property and reduce accidents and risks arising from changing weather conditions.
The Directorate emphasised the importance of ensuring home safety, particularly electrical installations, and of raising electrical appliances off the ground to avoid risks from water leakage.
It also urged inspecting rooftops and drainage systems to ensure they drain rainwater efficiently, avoiding lampposts and electricity transformers, and immediately reporting any water pooling or emergencies that pose a threat to public safety.
The General Directorate of Civil Defence also emphasised the need to exercise caution when driving in rainy conditions, to follow traffic safety rules, to avoid flooded roads and areas where water accumulates, and to ensure vehicle readiness before travelling, including checking tyres, windscreen wipers, and lighting systems.
The Directorate further advised parents to closely supervise children and prevent them from playing in water pooling or near roads, noting that adherence to preventive guidelines helps enhance public safety and reduce risks associated with the rainy season.
