As part of the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to investigate and determine the circumstances of the maritime incident that occurred on 20 October 2025, and following the completion of investigation and analysis by the Ministry’s Inquiry Committee, a review of the circumstances of the case revealed that one of the boats was detected fishing at night during the shrimp-fishing ban period, in violation of the law.
When the Coast Guard patrol approached the boat, it deliberately switched off its navigation lights and disabled its positioning system. It also failed to comply with stop orders. As the patrol vessel approached, the two boats collided; the violating vessel continued at maximum speed until it was intercepted and stopped by the patrol.
In light of the committee’s findings, the Ministry of Interior has referred the results of the investigation to the Public Prosecution to take the necessary legal action.
