The Ministry of Interior announced that, as part of the significant security efforts undertaken by the Anti-Narcotics Directorate at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science to protect society from the scourge of drugs, the directorate, in separate cases and in cooperation with Customs Affairs, has arrested 12 people of different nationalities, aged between 23 and 49, for possessing narcotic substances weighing approximately 17 kilograms, with a value exceeding BD227,000.
The directorate explained that upon receiving information about the cases, search, investigation and evidence-gathering procedures were immediately carried out, leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects in possession of the drugs. Legal procedures were taken, and the cases were referred to the Public Prosecution.
In the same context, the Criminal Media Section at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science emphasised the importance of community partnerships in raising drug prevention awareness. It urged the public to report any information via the hotline (996) or email (996@interior.gov.bh), with complete confidentiality assured.
