The Alternative Sentencing Directorate organised a range of sporting, cultural and recreational activities, in addition to various competitions, for beneficiaries of the Open Prisons Programme (Phase One), in conjunction with the GCC Unified Prisoner Week, as part of its commitment to supporting programmes aimed at enhancing reintegration into society and reinforcing the humanitarian and social dimensions for beneficiaries.
These activities aim to strengthen beneficiaries’ participation in community-based activities, develop their skills, and support their psychological and social stability, thereby enabling their positive integration into society. This aligns with the objectives of the GCC Unified Prisoner Week, which focuses on strengthening the humanitarian aspects of correctional institutions across GCC member states.
These initiatives are part of the Directorate’s approach to developing specialised programmes that support reintegration into society and enhance beneficiaries' role as active partners within their families and communities, contributing to social stability and the promotion of positive values.
The Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to organising purposeful activities that support reintegration pathways, promote humanitarian and social values, and strengthen community partnerships within the Alternative Sentencing system and the Open Prisons Programme.
