Customs Affairs held a coordination meeting in the presence of the Director-General of Clearance and Customs Services, with the participation of the Middle East and Africa Intellectual Property Protection Manager representing Louis Vuitton (LV), along with customs officials.
During the meeting, ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination in the field of protecting intellectual property rights of trademarks were discussed. It was agreed to organise specialised training courses for customs officers working at customs ports, aimed at developing their skills in detecting counterfeit goods and identifying methods and techniques used in trademark forgery.
The meeting also reviewed the mechanism for destroying goods that have been issued with a judicial order for destruction, in accordance with the approved procedures, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
This meeting comes as part of Customs Affairs’ keenness to strengthen partnerships with global brand owners and to support efforts to combat counterfeiting and protect consumers and the national economy.
