The Ministry of Interior announced that the Coast Guard seized a total of 1,191 illegal fishing tools during December 2025, including 1,020 illegal fish traps (gargoor) and 171 illegal fishing nets, as part of its ongoing efforts to protect Bahrain’s marine resources.
The Coast Guard confirmed that legal action has been taken against the violations, within the framework of an intensive inspection campaign aimed at ensuring fishermen’s compliance with the applicable laws and regulations, and at safeguarding the marine environment and natural resources of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
It stressed the importance of all fishermen adhering to fishing laws and regulations, in order to contribute to the protection of marine wealth and ensure its sustainability for future generations.
