The Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the Bahrain Open Tennis Challenger 2026, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, announced the launch of the fifth edition of the competition, which will be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from Jan. 26 to Feb. 1. The tournament is organised by the Police Sports Association and the Police Officers’ Club, with the participation of a group of elite world-ranked players, in an international sporting event that reflects the Kingdom’s advanced standing on the global sports map.
On this occasion, Shaikh Khalid praised the unlimited support and close follow-up of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. He noted that HE the Interior Minister’s instructions to utilise all human, technical and logistical capabilities to ensure the success of the event and its presentation in a manner befitting the name and status of the Kingdom of Bahrain. He explained that this support embodies the strategic vision of HE the Interior Minister in strengthening the Kingdom’s presence on the global sports map and consolidating its reputation as a leading destination capable of hosting and organising major international championships and events in accordance with the highest approved standards, reflecting Bahrain’s organisational efficiency, advanced infrastructure and distinguished national expertise.
He affirmed that the previous edition of the tournament achieved outstanding sporting and organisational success, winning the Best Tournament in Asia-Pacific Award presented by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), in addition to receiving the Best ATP 125 Tournament Worldwide Award for 2025, which reflects the high level of professionalism in organisation and confirms the ability of national cadres to manage and host major international tournaments with competence and distinction. He added that these achievements provide strong motivation to continue delivering excellence and producing better editions in the future.
He also indicated that all logistical and technical preparations have been completed to host the event, including the preparation of courts, facilities and service infrastructure in accordance with the highest international standards approved by the ATP, ensuring a comprehensive sporting experience for both participants and spectators and enhancing the overall success of the event.
He expressed his thanks and appreciation to all sponsors and partners supporting the tournament, commending their role in backing this international sporting event, and invited the public to attend and enjoy the event matches and the accompanying sporting and entertainment activities.
