The Chairman of the Standing Tennis Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Bahrain Tennis Federation, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, announced the launch of the fifth edition of the Bahrain Open Tennis Challenger, to be hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain from 26 January to 1 February 2026, featuring top internationally ranked tennis players. The tournament is organised by the Police Sports Association, in cooperation with the Police Officers Club.
The announcement was made during a press conference on Sunday evening, in the presence of the President of the Police Sports Association and the Head of the Tournament Organising Committee, Brigadier Khalid Al Khayat, and several participating players, during which the organisational and technical aspects of the tournament were reviewed and the official draw ceremony held.
The Committee Chairman praised the instructions of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, regarding the organisation and hosting of the tournament in the Kingdom of Bahrain for the fifth consecutive year. He emphasised the Interior Minister’s keenness to provide all the necessary capabilities and preparations to ensure the success of the tournament, growing international confidence in Bahrain’s ability to organise major sporting events and enhancing the Kingdom’s standing on the global sports arena.
The Committee Chairman affirmed that this year’s tournament has a distinctive momentum, as it is the first ATP tournament to introduce an electronic permit system, a step that reflects organisational development and keeps pace with the best internationally approved practices. He pointed out that the tournament is witnessing the participation of 64 players from different countries around the world, including 6 players ranked among the top 100 players in the world, in addition to the participation of Bahraini players, which contributes to supporting the presence of national talents and providing them with experience and exposure to advanced international levels.
