As part of ongoing efforts to protect marine resources, the Ministry of Interior announced that the Coast Guard seized a total of 712 illegal fishing tools during January 2026. These included 684 illegal fish traps (gargoor) and 28 illegal fishing nets.
The Coast Guard confirmed that the necessary legal measures were taken against the violations within the framework of an intensified inspection campaign aimed at ensuring fishermen’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations and safeguarding the marine environment and natural resources of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Coast Guard stressed the importance of all fishermen adhering to the laws and regulations governing fishing activities to protect marine wealth and ensure its sustainability for future generations.
