Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the Bahrain Open Challenger Tennis Receives Best Tournament Award

MOI

The  Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the Bahrain Open Tennis Challenger, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness Minister of the Royal Court, Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa for honouring the closing ceremony of the fifth edition of the Bahrain Open Tennis Challenger, which was held yesterday evening at the Police Officers Club courts. He noted that his presence represents significant support and reflects a strong interest in sport and athletes.

This came in a speech he delivered after receiving the Best Challenger Tournament (Category 125) in the World for 2025 award, which was presented to him by the Vice President of the Challenger Tour at the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP),  Julia Boyadjieva.

He also expressed his gratitude to His Excellency the Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, for his unlimited support and continuous follow-up, which clearly impacted the tournament's success and the achievements and distinction it attained. He expressed pride in the results achieved by the tournament in its previous edition, which received the Best Tournament in Asia-Pacific award, as well as the Best ATP 125 Tournament Worldwide for 2025.

He explained that without the strong attention, close follow-up and support provided by the Interior Minister, this success would not have been achieved.

The Chairman of the Supreme Committee commended all those who worked on the tournament, including the organisational, technical and administrative committees, as well as the on-field teams, particularly the volunteers. He noted that the time, effort and cooperation they provided were the cornerstone of the tournament’s success, describing them as a model of commitment and positive spirit.

Addressing Julia Boyajieva, he said: “Thanks to all your help and support over the past two years, we are here today with two wonderful awards. The least I can say is thank you, and I am absolutely confident that we are not finished yet.”

He also extended his thanks to the sponsors, supporters and partners who contributed to sponsoring the tournament and its accompanying events. He noted that their support was important and highly valued. Appreciation was likewise extended to the audience for their attendance, interaction and encouragement. He congratulated the winners and praised all players for their performance and sportsmanship.
