President of Customs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, headed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation participating in the 16th meeting of the Executive Council of the Customs Union Authority, which was held in Riyadh, with the participation of representatives of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The President of Customs affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, continues to support and consolidate the path of joint GCC action and enhance economic integration among GCC states. He noted that facilitating the movement of trade and investment constitutes a fundamental pillar in developing GCC economies and boosting their regional and international competitiveness.
He added that Bahrain’s participation in the meeting comes within the framework of its continued support for all initiatives and decisions aimed at strengthening the Customs Union and developing joint mechanisms that contribute to addressing challenges and facilitating the smooth flow of goods among GCC states.
During the meeting, several topics were discussed, including a review of the decisions of the Supreme Council at its 49th session and follow-up on their implementation. The council also reviewed the progress of the work of the technical committees and working groups of the Customs Union Authority and the outcomes achieved. The council directed that work related to the GCC Customs Union be expedited, particularly with regard to the project on mutual recognition of first points of entry. In addition, the meeting discussed key topics within the Authority’s strategic plan projects and operational activities for 2026, as well as the latest developments in the GCC Customs Data Exchange Platform project and its future phases.
