The Ministry of Interior announced that the Anti-Economic Crimes Directorate at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security has arrested a 41-year-old Arab national for carrying out online fraud and scam operations targeting a number of individuals, through the use of his bank accounts to receive funds obtained through various fraudulent methods.
An investigation into the received cases led to identifying the suspect and arresting him. Legal procedures have been taken in preparation for referring the case to the Public Prosecution.
The General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security urged citizens and residents to exercise caution, refrain from engaging with suspicious entities or accounts, and verify the identities of individuals before dealing with them via social media platforms. It also stressed the importance of promptly reporting fraud and scam cases through the “MyGov” application or by contacting the hotline (992), in order to take the necessary legal action.
