The legislative authority held a joint meeting on Thursday with His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, to discuss the latest developments and the repercussions of the Iranian attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain and other brotherly nations, as well as their impact on regional security and stability. The meeting also reviewed the Ministry of Interior's efforts and the measures taken to maintain security and stability.
The meeting was chaired by Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, the Chairman of the Shura Council, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, and the HE the Interior Minister, representing the government. Also in attendance were the First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council the Chairmen and members of the Foreign Affairs, Defence, and National Security Committees of both councils, and several senior officials from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, and the General Secretariats of both Councils.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Speaker of the Council Representatives and Chairman of the Shura Council affirmed the legislative authority's support for the Kingdom of Bahrain's steadfast position, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in rejecting and condemning the heinous Iranian aggression and taking all necessary measures to protect national security and safeguard national sovereignty.
They also expressed their deep appreciation to the Bahrain Defence Force, the National Guard, the Ministry of Interior, and all military, security, and civilian agencies for their high level of vigilance and readiness in addressing various developments, thereby enhancing the nation's protection and safeguarding its security. They commended the Ministry of Interior's role and efforts across all locations and sectors in protecting lives and property, strengthening civil defence measures, maintaining a cohesive internal front, enhancing communication with all segments of society, and promoting reassurance in the hearts of citizens and residents through security awareness campaigns.
They praised the efforts of national talents within “Team Bahrain” in various work areas, and the sincere efforts they are making to serve the nation and deal with challenges, expressing their deep appreciation for the solidarity, cohesion, national unity, awareness, responsibility, and broad national support demonstrated by the citizens and residents around the nation’s flag and the leadership of HM the King, and their firm confidence in the measures taken by the government to preserve the nation’s security.
For his part, HE the Interior Minister delivered a speech in which he stated:
Our meeting today comes within the framework of cooperation and consultation between the legislative and executive authorities, in confirmation of our shared national responsibilities. In implementation of the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the accompanying team and I are pleased to inform you of the security measures taken by the Ministry of Interior to preserve the security of the nation, in response to the heinous Iranian aggression to which the Kingdom of Bahrain is subjected. This is a threat that we, the attendees, have never witnessed in our lifetime, nor has Bahrain witnessed before, in which missiles and guided drones were used with aggressive intensity. These attacks have blatantly targeted the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Bahrain and threatened its security and safety.
Dear brothers, Bahrain is steadfast and unwavering in the defence of its sovereignty and of its citizens and residents on its land, under the leadership, care and wisdom of HM the King, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. It is not a secret to you that the ambitious governmental work methodology led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister is a comprehensive and advanced system and vision that is keen on combining governmental and national efforts to meet the needs of citizens and residents.
Brothers, this meeting aims to strengthen our social cohesion and block any attempts that might undermine our national consensus. It is a firm responsibility against anything that threatens the unity of society. I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the loyal citizens who stand with their nation today, with firm awareness and a high sense of national responsibility, realising that preserving Bahrain and protecting its unity is not a choice but a national duty. This is a day of unity, solidarity, and national cohesion, a day to repay the debt to the nation and to the leader of the homeland, who loves his people without exception and always cares for their unity, security, and stability.
Bahrain's continued security and strength, where the love of the homeland unites the will of the King and the people. At this critical phase, the value of genuine national belonging is clearly evident, for it is the highest standard by which stances are measured and consciences are tested. Patriotism is not a word to be read, a slogan to be raised, or a quality to be heard; rather, it is a steadfast position embodied in loyalty to the homeland, adherence to its principles, and commitment to its unifying identity. Whoever chooses to abandon this belonging, or to openly express loyalties that transcend their nation and contradict its higher interests, places themselves outside the national framework that unites the loyal sons of the nation, and cannot represent the identity of this homeland or speak on its behalf.
Bahrain has always been and will remain a welcoming home for every loyal citizen who believes in their country, stands by it, expresses their sincere belonging, adheres to its national principles, and dedicates themselves to its wise leadership, placing the nation's interests above all else. Throughout Bahrain's glorious history, our forefathers have bequeathed us a great legacy of heroism, sacrifice, and honourable stances, one that has laid the foundations for the security, stability, cohesion, and tranquillity we enjoy today. Therefore, our national and moral responsibility compels us to safeguard this trust, to protect this nation from anything that might compromise its unity or threaten its stability, and to pass it on to our children as we inherited it: a safe and stable homeland, a cohesive society, and a future worthy of the sacrifices made by our forefathers for this nation, for which we have lived and for which we would die.
After that, The Chief of Police, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan presented a security briefing, in which he reviewed the dimensions of the general security situation and the security measures taken to deal with the repercussions of the heinous Iranian aggression, and the efforts made by the police, civil defence and national ambulance personnel to protect lives and property, stabilise the security situation and enhance civil protection and public safety, noting also the measures taken by the National Civil Emergency Management Committee.
