The General Directorate of Civil Defence, in cooperation with the Bahrain Society for Social Responsibility, organised a training workshop titled “First Aid in Times of Crisis” at the Civil Defence School, in the presence of The Director-General of Civil Defence, Brigadier Ali bin Mohammed Al Kubaisi, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Society for Social Responsibilit, Amal Al Janahi, a number of officers; and members of the Kingdom University, the strategic partner of the event.
The workshop, delivered by a group of first-aid specialists, aimed to enhance community awareness and build individuals’ capacity to handle emergency situations. It addressed a number of important topics, including first aid principles, safe response, initial assessment of the casualty, measuring consciousness and breathing, and the basics of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
It also covered how to deal with bleeding, wounds, burns, fractures, choking incidents, and common medical emergencies such as fainting and seizures, as well as proper response mechanisms in emergency situations, to help protect lives and reduce risks.
The workshop forms part of a series of joint training programmes between the two sides, targeting a total of 600 participants from various areas across Bahrain, as part of efforts to promote a first-aid culture and enhance community preparedness to face crises.
In this context, the Director-General praised the fruitful cooperation with the Bahrain Society for Social Responsibility, affirming that this partnership represents an effective model of integration between official entities and civil society organisations. He noted that it contributes to achieving public safety objectives and raising awareness among members of society, while commending the participants’ engagement and their keenness to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to deal with emergency situations.
For her part, Amal Al Janahi expressed her deep appreciation for the vital role of the General Directorate of Civil Defence, praising its continued support and keenness to share specialised expertise with the community. She affirmed the society’s commitment to continuing to implement programmes and initiatives that enhance social responsibility and contribute to building a more aware and prepared society.
