The Director-General of the Capital Governorate Police, Brigadier Isa Hassan Al Qattan, affirmed that the heinous Iranian attack on 5 April targeting the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company facility resulted in damage amounting to a war crime. He noted that all necessary safety procedures and precautionary measures were immediately taken to ensure that no materials leaked that could pose any danger. He added that these measures had proved effective in containing the situation and maintaining public safety.
He explained that it has been decided to begin the second phase of repair works, while emphasising that operations will be carried out in accordance with the highest safety standards and with full readiness to deal with any eventualities. He noted that, in line with the commitment to the safety of citizens and residents as a top priority, the area near the site had been evacuated as a precautionary measure, with alternative accommodation provided and all essential needs and services secured for residents until the works are completed and conditions return safely to normal.
For her part, Member of the Council of Representatives MP Jalila Al Sayyed affirmed her support for the precautionary measures taken by the Ministry of Interior. She noted that the upcoming phase will require the highest levels of vigilance and caution, particularly during the repair works, to ensure the safety of citizens in the area.
She praised the cooperation and understanding shown by residents, as well as their appreciation for the government authorities’ commitment to safeguarding their safety, stressing the importance of uniting national efforts in support of the measures taken.
Several citizens also expressed their appreciation for the precautionary measures taken by the relevant authorities, affirming their confidence in the government’s commitment to their safety and praising the swift response and organisation in providing alternative accommodation and services, reflecting the level of readiness and efficiency in dealing with such circumstances.
