The President of Customs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa participated in the 17th meeting of the Executive Council of the Customs Union Authority of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which was held via videoconference.
During the meeting, the Council discussed the executive steps required to implement the Supreme Council’s decision at its 47th session on completing the requirements for establishing the Customs Union, as well as preparations for the 125th meeting of the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee. The Council also reviewed the Authority’s efforts to regulate transit and customs clearance procedures in light of the current circumstances.
The Council further reviewed a number of topics related to enhancing joint GCC customs action, including follow-up on the progress of projects aimed at completing the requirements of the Customs Union, updates on the work of committees and technical working groups tasked with studying proposed solutions to existing challenges, as well as the level of progress achieved in the project to build and operate the customs data exchange platform and its associated technical projects, in addition to monitoring the Authority’s operational workflow.
