The President of Customs and Deputy Chairman of the King Fahad Causeway General Organisation, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, visited the King Fahad Causeway in the presence of the organisation’s CEO, Yousif bin Ibrahim Al Abdan and Customs Affairs officials.
He was briefed on the causeway’s facilities and inspected Bahrain’s side of the customs sections.
The President of Customs hailed the efforts of employees and dedication to process travelling procedures and the traffic of goods. He highlighted the efforts resulted in achieving record times in the dispatch of trucks at the causeway, with an average crossing time of 46 minutes during peak times for trucks during the second quarter of the current year, indicating that the causeway’s efforts to increase the operational capacity of the project to develop the areas of the procedure for travellers resulted in a 50% increase at a rate of 2,500 vehicles per hour.
He added that the daily transit rate during weekdays reached 39,000 vehicles and trucks in both directions, while the transit rate during official holidays reached 46000 vehicles and trucks. The percentage of operations increased by 14% compared to the same period of the previous year.
He valued the employees' efforts to achieve the targeted goals and asserted his support for facilitating operations at the causeway.
